Dental Medical Emergencies and Resuscitation
Formerly known as basic life support training, this course encompasses all the requirements of the UK Resus Council standards for clinical practice and training for dental practitioners and dental care professionals in general dental practice.
The syllabus includes:
Medical risk assessment
Emergency drugs
Medical emergency and resuscitation equipment
The ABCDE approach to the sick patient
Dealing with common medical emergencies in dental practice including:
Asthma
Anaphylaxis including use of the Epipen autoinjector
Cardiac emergencies
Epilepsy
Diabetic emergencies
Choking
Syncope
This course will include adult and child basic life support and use of a defibrillator.
